Sunburn is considered the most common problem that people face in the summer season. Why is everyone so fond of sunbathing in the sun, despite the danger? The fact is that the sun's rays contribute to the production of vitamin D, improve mood and give the skin a beautiful shade.

But insufficient protection and prolonged exposure to the sun without sunscreens lead to serious tissue damage, which is dangerous in its consequences. It is important to immediately provide first aid to the victim at the first signs of sunburn. It is necessary to prevent damage in order to reduce the risk of complications.

What is this pathology, how does it manifest itself

Sunburn is a pathological condition caused by overheating and damage to the skin under the influence of ultraviolet rays. The following manifestations of pathology are characteristic:

  • Redness. The skin becomes red, hot and painful to the touch.
  • Puffiness. Tissue edema can be observed at the sites of injury.
  • Bubbles. In a severe case, formations filled with liquid appear, which eventually burst. There is a detachment of the upper layers of the dermis.
  • Burning sensation. The injured person experiences severe burning pain and itching at the site of the injury.

In the case of severe sunburn, there are still signs of general malaise in the form of dizziness, nausea, weakness, fever and even fainting.

How to help the victim

It is necessary to help the victim with a sunburn as follows:

  • Stop exposure to sunlight. The first step is considered to be moving the victim into the shade or an enclosed space to prevent further exposure to ultraviolet radiation on the skin.
  • Cooling. To relieve burning and reduce inflammation, it is necessary to cool the burned areas. This is done using a cold shower, cold water compresses or ice wraps. It is important to remember that ice cannot be applied directly to the skin to avoid further tissue damage.
  • Humidification. For burnt skin, it is recommended to use special ointments or gels. They will speed up healing. These products contain panthenol. The most effective is considered to be Pantesan liquid aerosol foam, which relieves pain, has a cooling effect, protects the damaged area from infection.
  • Drink more fluids. Burns lead to dehydration of the body, so it is important to increase water intake to restore electrolyte balance.

In case of severe burn with severe swelling, excessive blistering, dizziness or other serious symptoms, medical attention should be sought.

Be attentive to your health and do not forget about precautions when staying in the sun!
