On December 10, the Regional Scientific and Practical Conference "Surgery of the Upper Volga Region Through the Ages" was held in Tver. It was dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Department of Faculty Surgery at Tver State Medical University. The event, supported by the Tver Region Ministry of Health, brought together over 80 participants representing various regions of Russia, including Tver, Moscow, and the Tver and Moscow regions.
The conference aimed to discuss current issues in modern surgery, exchange experiences between practicing physicians and scientists, and highlight new approaches to teaching surgical disciplines. Participants included surgeons, combustion specialists, phlebologists, oncologists, proctologists, endoscopists, as well as representatives of the pharmaceutical industry, faculty, and students.
The conference program included a wide range of topics covering modern diagnostic and treatment methods for various surgical pathologies. Particular attention was paid to innovative approaches to treating complex wounds, including trophic ulcers, pressure ulcers, and burns. Participants discussed the implementation of new technologies in clinical practice, as well as prospects for the development of surgical science in the Upper Volga region.
The keynote speech of Dr. Alexey Nikolaevich Sergeev, Head of the Department of General Surgery, was a keynote address at the event. He presented a report on "Potential for Improving Local Treatment of Infected and Purulent Wounds," detailing the results of modern clinical trials. Particular attention was paid to the effectiveness of innovative agents and treatment methods that demonstrate high efficacy in the treatment of trophic and venous ulcers, as well as long-term non-healing wounds. Case studies from clinical practice illustrated the proposed approaches, generating considerable interest from the audience. The presentation served as the basis for a lively discussion, during which participants exchanged opinions and discussed the prospects for implementing the presented methods in everyday practice.
The conference also provided an opportunity for young professionals to present their research and exchange views with experienced colleagues. Tver State Medical University undergraduate and graduate students actively participated in the discussions, highlighting the importance of such events for the professional development of future physicians.
The organizers expressed gratitude to all participants for their contributions to the development of surgical science and practice. Following the conference, a decision was made to hold similar events regularly to further strengthen interregional cooperation and improve the quality of medical care.
